The CFM56 produced jointly by General Electric Aviation (USA) and Snecma (France), is one of the most prolific types of engines in the world as it is the power house of the Boeing 737 and Airbus 340-200 and -300 families. The engine is also one of the options for the family Airbus A320.

The three wire-cut EDMs purchased by DMP correspond to the ONA AF35 model. The main characteristic of the ONA AF35 machines is the incorporation of the new high-power digital generator ONA Easycut, capable of reaching the highest wire cutting speed available with standard wires, up to 450 mm2/minute.

DMP who specializes in the design and manufacture of high precision machined parts, has consolidated its transition to "safety class 1" aircraft components with the development of various plans for R+D+i programmes financed by CDTI and The Basque Government and its involvement in projects with Messier Dowty, Goodrich, Sener, Snecma and Turbomeca. In April this year the company will have been involved in this industrial activity for 11 years and have been commissioned through the integrator Messier Dowty and in partner engineering with Boeing, for the exclusive manufacture of a kit of 36 pieces for the damping system of the front wheel assembly of the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner model which includes elements of up to 800 mm long.

The Boeing project has fully endorsed its engineering capability and has opened the doors of the A350. Messier Dowty have invited them to carry out the same work for the main landing gear, while moving forward to take over the responsibilities for other parts. So far, the drive for new aircraft programs and analysis of industrial needs for execution has sparked an investment plan that will exceed two million Euros in the purchase of machinery and a half million for tooling. An Investment plan that includes the wire-cut EDM integrated cell acquired from Ona Electroerosión.
