On the 20th December 2003, the Opening Ceremony of the Institute took place in the Chinese city of Tianjin, attended by representatives of institutions in both countries, of whom special mention must be made of the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, and bodies taking part in the completion of the project, such as the AFM, PROSCHOOLS, IMH, in addition to Machine tool companies participating in the project. On the part of the Chinese, the ceremony was attended by high officials from the Chinese government and the Tianjin Town Council, in addition to economic-professional and business entities.
